The STEM Alliance, in cooperation with its partners CA Technologies, organised a webinar on Thursday 18 May 2017 from 17:30 to 18:30 (CET).
Mariateresa Faregna, who leads communications and CSR at CA Technologies in Italy, talked about how she works with schools and non-profit organisations to bring industry and education together to introduce young people to technology, and show them the connections between studies and career paths.
In 2015, CA Technologies introduced Create Tomorrow, a Europe-wide corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme aimed to inspire the next generation of innovators and digital leaders, and to address the gender imbalance.
Mariateresa is the engine behind CA's delivery of the successful Deploy Your Talents initiative, which she helped introduce to Spain and Germany, and expand in France. Deploy Your Talents is driven by CSR Europe, and delivered across Europe by local non-profit partners.
In addition, Mariateresa has brought CA employees together with school students in Milan and Rome to teach them how to code as part of Programma Il Futuro, an initiative launched by the Ministry of Education, Universities and Research, in collaboration with CINI.

Mariateresa explained the reasons why STEM subjects need to be promoted. Then she showed the way the two projects "Deploy your talents" and "Programma il futuro" were developed and the impact they had on students. She provided data and declarations from participants and mentioned the lack of STEM education in Italy.
