Bringing STEM professionals in your school: tips and examples

The third webinar for the "STEM Professionals Go Back to School" scheme series with the title "Bringing STEM professionals in your school: tips and examples" took place on Wednesday, the 8th of November 2017 from 17:30 to 18:30 (CET).

The purpose of the STEM Professionals Go Back To School webinar for teachers "Bringing STEM professionals in your school: tips and examples" is to give teachers, career counsellors, educational authorities, researchers and school principals an insight regarding the scheme.

The webinar followed this programme:

Participants got all the information about how to organize a visit from a STEM professionals and how to concretely get in touch with a professional throughout the unique STEM Professionals Back To School Tool.

Additionally, the two experts provided the audience with excellent practice examples of their activity, sharing useful tips and advices related to the pedagogical aspects of the visit.

The webinar was introduced by Maïté Debry, who provided the participants with a preliminary explanation of the STEM Alliance project and then with a more specific insight about the aims and benefits of the "STEM Professionals Go Back To School" scheme.

The pedagogical dimension of the scheme was addressed by Silvia Giacon, who presented tips and tricks explaining how to better organize in practice the visit in the class from the professional perspective with the use of the "STEM Professionals Go Back To School" booklet. Silvia also dealt with the concrete guidelines of the "STEM Professionals Go Back To School" tool and with a step by step walk-through on how to register to the tool and how to get in touch with schools and teachers.

The communication perspective of the "STEM Professionals Go Back To School" scheme was finally taken into account by Giacomo Galardini, who gave tips and advice on how to engage the audience on social media and how to increase the outreach of the scheme through the communication material.

Participants were informed about the "STEM Ahead" competition organised by the STEM Alliance and its partners to display the enormous diversity of opportunities that come with Science, Engineering, Technology and Mathematics (STEM) subjects.

In the second part of the webinar, the two experts – Natalija Budinski, a teacher at the "Petro Kuzmjak" school in Serbia and Svetlana Dotsenko, STEM Professional from Serbia provided participants with excellent practice examples on their activity, sharing useful tips and advices related to the pedagogical aspects of the visit. SPEAKERS

Natalija Budinski is 38 years old and she lives in Ruski Krstur, Serbia. She graduated in mathematics at the University of Novi Sad, then she started working as a teacher of mathematics in "Petro Kuzmjak" school in Ruski Krstur, the same school where she finished her primary and secondary education.
She is very interested in educational innovation and she shares her experiences with colleagues mostly on her blog. Scientix gave her a great opportunity to be an ambassador and to talk about ideas and approaches that she applies in her lessons. Last year she was selected by Serbian Ministry of Education as external educational adviser. 

Natalija Budinski
Teacher - Serbia

Ljubka Budinski is 35 years old and she lives in Ruski Krstur, Serbia. She graduated at the University of Novi Sad and she holds a Master of Science in Pharmacy. Previously, she finished her primary and secondary education in "Petro Kuzmjak" school in Ruski Krstur.
Currently, she is working as Head of Pharmacy Department in the Health Care Center in Kula. She is coordinating seven Pharmacies on the territory of Municipality Kula. She is very dedicated to her work, because it is a very nice, but highly demanding job.
