A STEM Alliance, STE(A)M IT & Scientix webinar was hosted on Wednesday, 10 November 2021 at 17:00 CET. We invited DARTEF and Elias Robot start-ups, to talk about their solutions to improve STEM education and to give an overview of how STEM is needed to create and develop business. Attendees had the opportunity to ask our guest speakers, Roman and Johanna, questions about how STEM careers can be fostered in the classroom.

SPEAKERS

Johanna Hemminki - Elias Robot: Ms. Johanna Hemminki is a leading specialist in robot-based language learning in Europe. Her passion is to develop new ways to learn languages and help people to communicate better with the help of robots and AI. She is a CEO and founder of Elias Robot, an award-winning company specialized in robotic solutions for education. Prior to founding Elias Robot, Ms. Hemminki has spent over 15 years developing educational institutions, training teachers in education technology and teaching Finnish language.

Roman Kaurson - DARTEF: Roman Kaurson is co-founder and educational researcher at DARTEF. He has engineering background and is also a recent MA Educational Innovation graduate from University of Tartu, Estonia. At his presentation, he will showcase, how math teachers can use DARTEF software, to connect school mathematics topics with STEM jobs. DARTEF develops special software, that allows teachers to easily connect school mathematics to the various STEM jobs during mathematics lesson. Targeted at students of 12-16 years old, DARTEF software allow students to get an experience, how mathematics knowledge is used in the work of STEM professionals.
