STEM Alliance is co-organising a Massive Open Online Course together with Systemic - funded by Erasmus+ - and Scientix - funded by Horizon2020 - focused on encouraging students to pursue STEM careers - 'Opening minds to STEM careers' MOOC for STEM teachers'. Read below to find out how to register and participate!

The upcoming "Opening minds to STEM careers" Massive Online Open Course (MOOC) aims at informing, training and empowering primary and secondary teachers in successfully introducing and attracting young people to choose STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) careers from an early age, as well as to learn about private and public initiatives in STEM education.

This course is an opportunity for teachers who want to understand the current state of play of industries and companies, through online lessons and information about career guidance and development. It is also great for Continuous Professional Development (CPD) and is completely free of charge!

Starting on 3 April 2017, the MOOC is expected to last for the duration of 9 weeks. It will include a total of 8 modules (two module per week) and an extra grace week at the end of the course, while the workload is estimated as of 2-3 hours/week. Participants will be able to finish it in minimum of 4 weeks, maximum 9 weeks. It is estimated that participants need around 25 hours to complete the course successfully.

The MOOC is a joint initiative of three projects, Scientix, funded by Horizon 2020, SYSTEMIC, funded by Erasmus+, and STEM Alliance, which is privately funded, and gives teachers and other educators the chance to know members of the STEM Alliance closely. The main audience for this MOOC is primary school teachers and secondary school STEM teachers, while secondary school teachers of any other subjects are also welcome to participate.

About the European Schoolnet Academy

The MOOC is hosted on the European Schoolnet Academy, a platform where you can learn about innovation in the school and classroom through online professional development courses for teachers in primary and secondary schools. The courses offered on this platform are completely free of charge.

Educators can benefit immensely from the project by taking advantage of the MOOC (Massive Open Online Course), which is a course of study made available over the Internet without charge to a very large number of people.

As for assessment strategies and evaluation methodologies, there will be quizzes, peer reviews and self-reviews. At the end of the MOOC, digital badges and digital certificates will be available for the course participants.
