Description:

The purpose of this webinar was to give teachers, career counsellors, educational authorities and researchers an understanding of careers in the STEM field. Our speaker, Jelle de Jong, consultant, trainer and education inspirator at Play Learn Change, presented his experience related to this career path. He talked about the LEGO Education approach, its background, possible impact on education as well as about the link with skills needed in future STEM careers. He aimed to show that the LEGO Education approach is not just a means of educating young people but is preparing them for a future we don't know yet and in which they will need all their curiosity, creativity and cooperation skills to successfully solve the challenges ahead.

Jelle de Jong

Jelle de Jong,
Consultant, trainer and education inspirator at Play Learn Change

Jelle studied applied physics at the Eindhoven University of Technology. During his studies, he developed an interest to motivate people for sciences, introduce them to this field and connect science with other domains, like history. In 2002, he founded "Stichting Techniekpromotie" (the Foundation for the Promotion of Technology) with the three Universities of Technology in the Netherlands and worked, first, as programme manager and later as general manager. Since 2015, he is the owner of "Play Learn Change", where he is active as education consultant, trainer and inspirator. Using methods like Playful Learning and LEGO SERIOUS Play, "Play Learn Change" provides education trainings for teams and organisations in the education / not-for-profit sector. It develops strategies for creating playful lifelong learning and working environments. Since 2015 Play Learn Change is also partner of LEGO Education to deliver LEGO Education Academy teacher trainings and one of their ambassadors in the Netherlands.
