Why is your company joining the STEM Alliance?
CA Technologies is working with the STEM Alliance to help build a better world by addressing the STEM skills gap and gender imbalance in Europe.
In January 2017, CA Technologies has partnered with the STEM Alliance to enhance the reach of its Create Tomorrow programme, a Europe-wide STEM programme that inspires secondary school children to consider STEM studies and careers, and addresses the gender imbalance that exists. Now in its second year, Create Tomorrow has reached more than 6,000 under-18 secondary school pupils and university students, and more than 2,000 of these students were females. .
Why is STEM Education a priority for your company?
As technology becomes more integrated across our lives, the workforce has to evolve, and the jobs of the future will require significantly more STEM skills. A shortfall of 150,000 IT experts is predicted every year in Europe, and the demand for new ICT sector jobs could lead to an estimated shortage of more than 700,000 skilled ICT workers throughout the continent by 2020.
We are facing one of the biggest challenges of the 21st century, and as a leading software organisation we have not only a responsibility, but an opportunity to make a difference. Together with our employees, we are working together to help build a better world.
What does your company want to achieve with its support to the STEM Alliance?
Through our partnership with STEM Alliance, CA technologies aims to inspire the next generation of digital leaders, influence positive attitudes to STEM, and lead as an organisation best placed to drive innovation.
In December 2016, CA Technologies renewed its pledge to address the STEM skills gap and gender imbalance during the European Union's launch event of the Digital Skills and Jobs Coalition. Working with the STEM Alliance, we will deliver against our pledge to inspire secondary school students to consider future careers in STEM through programmes that show the connections between studies and career opportunities. Our partnership with the STEM Alliance will help us to further develop relationships with schools to encourage innovative STEM teaching that reflects the role of technology in building and strengthening today's digital world.
