Cary Academy aims to improve student learning through providing students with technology. In particular, they use an innovative approach "one student - one computer". Withing the provided case study they want to share their experience with educators in order to bring STEM skills to school.
The case study will show teachers an example of the school, where each student was equipped with a ThinkPad X201 Tablet - a convertible tablet PC that can be operated with a stylus or a keyboard. This experiment was made in collaboration with Lenovo. Students were provided not only with the hardware, but also with the software which refreshes every four hours. Students and parents were given 24/7 access to the school’s internal network where they can view live in-class activities, check out completed class projects and download course materials.
The case study will provide educators with student’s testimonials, challenges students and teachers faced with this experiment, the outcome of the programme and possible further improvements of 1:1 (one student - one computer) strategy.
