This practice is a part of lesson series “It’s All About Energy!” and builds on the knowledge gained in Part 1. The practice aims at introducing students to the current realities and future possibilities of global energy production through highlighting the link between STEM topics and practical matters. The goal of this teaching material is to motivate and direct students to undertake STEM-related careers and studies.


Using this manual teachers are supposed to lead students throughout the proposed activities so that students can understand the consequences of energy consumption. The manual will help teachers to aware students of current global energy problems and motivate them to think about possible ways to retrieve energy from the renewable sources.


The teachers can work on discussion plans, assignments with questions and model responses, model answers to the test (see related materials), and the summary for the series of lessons included in the manual. The activities can be developed for both work in class (in groups or individual) and homework.

The material can be integrated into chemistry, physics, geology or geography lessons, but also any classes dealing with social and global issues.
