Description

In this complete student guide proposed by the Amgen Biotech Experience (ABE) programme - https://www.amgenbiotechexperience.com - students will follow the steps of the genetic engineering process that is used to make insulin and other genetically engineered products. Through a full sequence of ABE laboratories, students will learn and practice the techniques and procedures that are part of this process. After successful fulfillment of all the steps in the program, they will create your own genetically modified bacteria.

The guide consists of six chapters, each of them represents a laboratory. Every laboratory contains an extensive description to help students and teachers to carry out a set of experiments. The description includes:
- explanation of a lab topic, preparation needed, and safety measures
- materials, equipment and supplies
- methodology to reproduce the lab
- questions
- “Did you know?” section
- glossary

The guide is available for download in pdf format in English and Spanish.

Students guide is a part of the ABE curriculum which can be found here https://www.amgenbiotechexperience.com/what-we-do/curriculum
