'Teachers TryScience' (TTS) is a portal with a focus on design-based learning and an emphasis on environmental science and engineering, which are STEM subjects.
The Lesson 1: SySTEMs Thinking aims to introduce students to common vocabulary used to describe systems, to allow students to compare and contrast the interactions within different natural and manmade systems and to encourage students to think critically about gathering information about systems and then mapping this data.
By the end of this lesson, students will be able to describe systems using appropriate vocabulary, to identify similarities and differences between various systems and to explain how organizing data from a system perspective reveals different information than raw data alone.
This lesson was developed by the New York Hall of Science.
