A STEM Alliance, Scientix & STE(A)M IT webinar was hosted on Tuesday, 2 November 2021 at 17:00 CET. It addressed the importance of contextualizing STEM careers in integrated STEM teaching. Attendees had the opportunity to ask our guest speakers, Claire Flammang and Martha Hoebens, any questions about how STEM careers can be contextualized in class, what teachers need to consider according to their students' level and what kind of resources, materials and tools they can use while designing their lessons to address real-life problems and STEM careers.

SPEAKERS

Martha Hoebens: For more than 10 years Martha has been advising education and business on how they can come to a collaboration with each other that benefits to benefit students. She also gives training courses to teachers, including on guiding students towards their final exams and on thinking about education in the broadest sense of the word. Martha advises on the cooperation between education and business, and offers schools, organizations, companies, and teachers inspiration and tools to start their collaboration, give it a boost or make it more sustainable.

Claire Flammang: Art and drama teacher since 2000, active member of the innovation department of SCRIPT (Coordination service of pedagogical and technological research and innovation, Ministry of Education, Childhood and Youth, Luxembourg) since 2016. Claire has always been driven by the urge of interconnecting creativity, new technologies, innovation and pedagogy. Co-author of the Luxemburgish framework of DigComp for teachers launched in march 2020, Claire is currently national coordinator and organizer of events such as the Art Teachers' Day, the eduMedia days (integration of new technologies in education), the tablUcation days (use of tablets in education), and in charge of the new school subject "Digital Sciences".
