Webinar: STEM Careers and Skills of the Future - Careers in the Software and IT Sectors

Jointly organised by STEM Alliance and Scientix, the 'STEM Careers and Skills of the Future - Careers in the Software and IT Sectors' was held online on Friday, 1 June 2018 at 17:00 CEST (Central European Summer Time) in English language.

Description: The purpose of this webinar was to give teachers, career counsellors, educational authorities and researchers an understanding of careers, which can be developed in the STEM field, software and ICT industry. Maria Porok, Advisor, Business Development, Mainframe Partner Program, EMEA of CA Technologies presented her experience related to this career path and will talk about opportunities existing in the software and IT sectors.

SPEAKERS' BIOS

Maria was born in Russia, in the city of Yekaterinburg, where she graduated from the Ural State Mining University with the major Economics of Mining Enterprises. Her career in IT Maria started as a receptionist in the local System Integrator during her last years in the university - with the goal to learn more about the business and the industry itself.

Several years later, Maria continued her professional journey in Sun Microsystems, a multinational corporation. Maria moved to Moscow to join Sun Support services where she worked closely with the engineers, Company Partners and Customers. After 7 years in Sun Microsystems, Maria joined IBM with the new objectives around developing IBM Channel Partners.

In 2014 Maria faced changes in her life: she moved to Prague and won a scholarship, allowing her to join EMBA program. She graduated from EMBA and several months later became a mum of a beautiful son. Since December 2016 Maria joined CA Technologies Prague Technical Center and she is holding the position on Business Development advisor for the Partner program in Europe. Joining technology and business is the main objective of the position Maria is holding.
