On May 6 at 17:00 CEST, the STEM Alliance, Scientix and IBM organized a webinar on IBM SkillsBuild for Students and Teachers, to facilitate the integration of the platform in classrooms and explain the steps needed to participate in the STEM Alliance – IBM SkillsBuild competition.
The webinar was intended for the teachers interested in the competition. Experts from IBM explained how to navigate the SkillsBuild platform and how to create lesson plans.
IBM SkillsBuild for Students and Educators is a free online platform that is designed to enrich the STEM and work-related curriculum for students (age 14+) at this challenging time while also providing professional development opportunities for teachers. Built using vetted open source and bespoke learning content, IBM SkillsBuild uses text, video and gamified assessments to engage students. The platform also provides teachers with content creation tools and a dashboard that allows the tracking of student progress.
SPEAKERS
Evelina Pärnerud, She is the CSR manager for Northern Europe. She has a background as a Lic. Psychologist with a passion about the power of people and how we as humans can create success together with amazing tech solutions. With over 20 years' experience in people and organisational development she has had the opportunity to work with multinational organisations across a wide range of sectors. Equal education is crucial for a resilient society and therefore one of IBMs' main CSR focuses is Education and Skills. Evelina, and her team, are running various educational initiatives in Northern Europe, both for students, educators, and adult learners.

Sam Forrest, He is the European CSR Assistant. Currently a student at the University of Leicester studying Economics, with key interests in the economics of education and poverty. In the 6-months he has been with IBM he has worked on supporting the deployment of SkillsBuild, as well as undertaking significant training and professional development opportunities. Currently Sam is supporting IBMs' educational training platforms, volunteering initiatives, and competitions across Europe.
